I
remember the day that I received this book as a birthday gift from my mother at
the age of 12. That same day, my parents could not pry me away from reading the
book. I do not think they cared that I had become consumed by the book as they
were just happy that I was reading, something that I was not usually as
thrilled to do. This book will always be a book that I think of when I reflect
on my development as a young reader. Yes, it was not the most intellectually
stimulating, but what it did possess was something that not all young readers
may be attracted to or care about but we so important to me! It provided a
figure for me to look up to and sparked my interest in sports as a young adult,
something that continued to be a big part of my life as a grew up.
